The cribbage rules here are explained based on the traditional 2player version of cribbage. The rules to play cribbage: you need 2players or more. Cribbage rules: 52 cards are needed in deck (removing jokers). Cribbage rules 3: a player shuffles the deck, player not shuffling the deck cuts the deck, player with the lowest number deals, usually this is the way to determine the dealer in a cribbage game, example; king-10points beats an ace-1point. Cribbage rules to start: the dealer hands the cards to the opponent (called the pone) to the right. Starting on the left the player passes a card to each player until everyone has 6cards. Each player discards 2cards to have a total of 4cards in their hand. The discarded cards will make a sum of 4 that will create what will be called the crib. Cribbage rules 5: the “starter”, the pone cuts the cards then puts a card face up on top of the deck. The play, called “pegging”, starts clockwise on the dealers left. Each player taking turns laying a card down and calling the cards accumulative portion, example; pone laid a 4 he/she calls 4, then the next player lays 5 he/she calls 9, until you get close to or exactly 31. The first to get 31 or run out of cards gets to call “go” for the other player to lay their cards for 31. The cribbage board is often a wooden platform with 120 holes in it and 2 sticks (called pegs), one peg is in front of the other for keeping track of your score. For every point you make you put the peg in front of the other. Each card has its own point value in cribbage, high to low: face cards are 10 points in cribbage, 10-10 points, 9-9 points, 8-8 points, 7-7 points, 6-6points, 5-5points, 4-4 points, 3-3 points, 2-2 points, and ace-1point. The point rule for cribbage: If starter card on top of deck is a jack the dealer gets 2points, fifteen-2; when you call a cumulative of 15 you get 2points. No matter the order. 3points go to you if you score a “run” which is laid in play, example; player laid from their hand a 6, 4, and 5 that would be a run for 3points, same for 4-4point and 5-5point runs. points for pairs: 2points a pair example (4-4-2-6-8), 3pair-6points and 12points for 5pair. The last player with 31 gets 2points, but if you scored under (a 29 or 30) you only get one point (called “go”). Repeat till a player gets 121points. Here’s a clever way to build points from your pones (if allowed). If your pone doesn’t claim their points come your turn, if you spot them, you get to claim their points by calling “MUGGINS”. First person to score 121 in the game wins. Neither dealer nor players can look at the deck or it will cause a point deduction penalty of 2points and for opponents to see your cards.
